Iowa second grader takes gun to school

No shots were fired and no injuries reported when a second grader in Johnston, Iowa took a gun to school.

Officials at Lawson Elementary said they found out about the gun just before noon Tuesday, May 7, 2013.  It was reportedly taken to the school by an eight-year-old boy.

Police were called and the gun was confiscated.

WHO-TV reports a letter to parents said criminal charges were possible in addition to discipline from the school district.

No threats were made and no shots were fired.
