Congregation trades church service for community service

TIME LAPSE VIDEO: A congregation spent their Sunday morning church-time building homes for the community.

A congregation spent their church-time building homes for the community.

As part of the Bettendorf Christian Church’s yearly Love Project, the group put together walls for three Habitat for Humanity homes on Sunday, May 5.

Within just a few hours their project was complete and the homes will be built in the Quad City area.

“Instead of gathering at our church building,” said Matt Shaw who was helping out Sunday, “we want to come out and reach the community one day a year and just teach our people how to not only believe what Jesus teaches but also live it out in our everyday lives.”

For church members who aren’t so construction-coordinated, they filled bags of food for Kids Against Hunger.

Bettendorf Christian Church made a time lapse video of their progress on the Habitat for Humanity walls they built on Sunday.
