A St. Augustine woman died and six of her seven passengers were injured when the van she was driving overturned in Knox County.
Police said Jennifer Avalos, 36, was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected from the van she was driving when it crashed at 225 Knox Road 400 East at about 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013.
The van was northbound when Avalos lost control and drove off the right side of the road. The van slid, struck a power pole and flipped several times, coming to rest about 200 feet from the road in a field.
Police said the van landed on top of Avalos.
The seven passengers were able to get out of the van. Six of those passengers were taken to area hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.
