Dixon man busted after undercover drug deal

Police said an undercover drug buy led to the arrest of a man they think is one of the largest heroin dealers in the Dixon, Illinois area.

Police said an undercover drug buy led to the arrest of a man they think is one of the largest heroin dealers in the Dixon, Illinois area.

Ted Valdes, 36, of Dixon was arrested at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013 as part of an ongoing drug investigation in Dixon.

“During the course of the investigation, Valdes was identified as being one of the largest heroin dealers in the Dixon area,” said a statement from Dixon Police.  “The Dixon Police Department also received numerous complaints from the community regarding a lot of stop and go traffic from Valdes’ residence.”

During their investigation, police said Valdes provided heroin to an undercover agent of the Dixon Police Department.

Police said Valdes was charged with unlawful delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a senior citizen center, unlawful delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a church, unlawful delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.  All of the charges are felonies.

Valdes was held in the Lee County Jail.

Police said more arrests were expected in connection with the case.
