Quad City man reunited with grandfather’s military awards

After losing them in a flood, a local man was on a mission to replace his grandfather’s military medals.

Quad City area man, Jason Bates spent years learning about the service his grandfather, Corporal Floyd Wolf gave to his country in WWII. Corp. Wolf earned seven medals during that time and Bates found a way to get them replaced.

Bates wrote Congresswoman Cheri Bustos asking for help, and learned that the replacement medals were on the way.

“They sent it off to wherever they sent it in D.C. and it came in and they called me and said, ‘We’ve got them’,” said Bates.

Having his grandfather’s awards again, Bates said he now hopes to meet some of the men who served alongside his grandfather.
