Davenport students awarded Rotary scholarships

The Rotary Club of Davenport, Iowa awarded $56,000 in scholarships to five local high school students.

The Rotary Club of Davenport provides four $10,000 scholarships and one $16,000 scholarship each year.   Students from Davenport Assumption, Davenport Central, Davenport North and Davenport West high schools were eligible to apply.

Winners are selected based on their GPA, test scores, community service, interview and recommendations.

In addition to scholarships, the club has made loans totaling more than $900,000 to over 400 students since its college loan and scholarship fund was established in 1922.

The scholarship awards ceremony was held Monday, April 29, 2013 at the Outing Club on North Brady Street in Davenport.

The Rotary club said recipients of this year’s scholarship awards are:

Danielle Moore from Assumption High School

Kristopher Burney from Davenport West High School

Dylan Beyhl from Davenport North High School

Claire Rayburn from Davenport Central High School

Daphne Cornish from Davenport Central High School
