Chief Black Hawk is here to stay.
The status of the Chief Black Hawk statue in Rock Island was the concern of many when word got out that Wal-Mart would be moving into the Watch Tower Plaza. Rock Island Mayor Pauley told News 8 today that Wal-Mart has agreed to keep the statue in its original location.
“We conveyed the importance to them,” Mayor Pauley says. “They knew that was a historic item there and that people wanted it to stay. They knew it would reflect very well on them if it did stay there.”
