Construction to begin in Moline and Galesburg

Starting this week crews will be out working on some new projects.

In Galesburg, Broad Street from Main to Simmons Street will be closed beginning Monday, April 29, 2013. According to the Public Information Officer, Gunther Construction plans to complete the project in two stages to allow access to the parking lot off Broad Street. Crews are expected to take seven or eight weeks to complete the project. Parking on Broad Street is not permitted during this time.

Gunther Construction plans to begin construction on the McClure Street Bridge the following week.

Valley Construction will begin work on 5th Ave. in Moline the week of Monday, April 29, depending on weather. The company plans to reconstruct 5th Ave. from 11th Street to 14th Street. Work is scheduled to start between 11th and 12th Streets, according to a spokesperson from the City of Moline.

According to the Illinois Department of Transportation IL-96 to US-34 in Henderson County is closed due to flooding. A portion of IL-164 near Oquawka Rest Area is also closed.

According to the Iowa Department of Transportation, US-67 between US-61 and I-74 in Scott County is closed in both directions due to flooding.
