To benefit organizations and programs within the community, a group of volunteer firefighters served up some breakfast.

The Bettendorf Volunteer Firefighters’ Association held its 16th annual Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, April 28 at the Bettendorf Middle School cafeteria.

Proceeds from the meal go to the Volunteer Firefighters’ Association Benevolent Fund, the Fire Departments Explorer Program, and a portion will go to a local charity.

“This year our explorers will go to an Illinois fire service institute and go through a three or four day fire school where they get to actually do full-on firefighter skills,” said Bettendorf firefighter, Andy Sheehan.

Over 1,000 people came to share a meal with the department.
