Winners of kids’ piano competition announced

Winners of an annual piano competition for kids have been announced.

The 20th year of the Knox-Galesburg Symphony Young Pianists Competition took place in early April at Carl Sandburg College. The competition was for 5 to 14-year-old children who competed in categories divided by age.

Winners of the competition were, Maximilian Martinez, Joshua Hutchings, Christopher Pamatmat, Maya Gomez, Lucas Shroyer, David Sudhaker, A.J. Pamatmat, all from Galesburg and Ashleigh Nutzhorn from Altona.

Honorable mentions went to Adrianne Fernando, Eddie Solberg-Hale, Katie Jackson, and Jordan Shroyer all from Galesburg and Natalie Ann Nelson from Rio.

As part of the Music Mornings program, winners will perform on a 9-foot Steinway concert piano on Saturday, April 27 at the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Galesburg.

The Knox-Galesburg Symphony will host a public recital for all winners and honorable mentions in May at Knox College.
