To create jobs and improve traffic flow Governor Quinn has announced a road project in Milan.

The Illinois Jobs Now! project, announced by the Illinois governor has more than $510,000 in capital investments to fund the construction.

Patching concrete curb and gutter removal, crack filling, and other work will be completed on County Highway 7 from 78th Ave. to the city limits, and on County Highway 78 from Airport Road to U.S. Route 67.

Langman Construction, Inc. of Rock Island has been contracted to do the job and the Illinois Department of Transportation will manage the project.

State Rep. Patrick Verschoore said the capital investments will help create local jobs and overdue renovations in the area.

“I’m happy to see the state investing in our area and look forward to the positive economic impact that should result from it,” said Verschoore.

Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest capital construction program in Illinois history, and one of the largest in the nation.
