Clinton-based Data Dimensions plans to nearly double its workforce over three years by building a $6 million facility in the Lyons Business and Technology Park.
As Nikki Hardin digs in with a ceremonial shovel on Wednesday, it represents a 25-year milestone for the company.
"It's very exciting for us," she said.
Working her way up from data entry to operations manager over a two-decade career, she's still growing with the company.
"You constantly are learning something new," she said.
Now, the second-generation family-owned business is reinforcing its Clinton roots.
"I get kind of emotional when I talk about it," said owner Mark Bush.
Clinton employees will join about 135 new staffers. It's a project to build a new state-of-the-art complex in Clinton.
"The technology is advancing so much," Bush said. "It's helped us to be successful."
Data Dimensions is the largest privately-owned U.S. company of its kind. It serves national clients by processing everything from insurance claims to medical bills.
"We image and digitize, computerize and automate those processes to make businesses more effective," he said.
That demand for data is a testament to this family business. It also represents the growth of information technology careers in states like Iowa.
It's endorsing employees willing to change and grow with the company. For staffers and Hardin, it's data that computes in Clinton.
"We do feel strong about our future," she said. "That's the reason for building a new facility."
Construction should start in about a week. The company hopes to move from its current location in November.
