Despite flooded parking lots and closed roads it didn’t keep baseball fans away from enjoying a game at Modern Woodmen Park.  By the look of things no one thought today would have been a good day for baseball. On Saturday, April 20, 2013, St. Ambrose University played Viterbo University.

"I was a little worried that the game might not happen just because of the weather,” says Beth Sallak, who was at the game.

A wall surrounding Modern Woodmen was put up Thursday, April 18, 2013 so water could stay off the field.

"The rain can stay away now,” says Mike Wulfekhule, who also was at the baseball game.

It gave fans a new experience, "Quite interesting, I didn’t' expect to see a ball game where there's water all around it and yet there's a baseball game going on,” says Wulfekhule.

How the fans got inside the game was a little different too.

"We had to walk the plank they call it the plank into the ball park,” says Sallak.

Water is supposed to crest Sunday, March 20, 2013, so water levels on River Drive could be higher. For more on this story click the video player above.
