Davenport residents go bald for cancer research.

St. Baldrick’s Foundation held its annual event in Davenport with a goal to “Conquer Kids’ Cancer.”

People in Davenport are going bald for cancer research.

St. Baldrick’s Foundation held a head-shaving event to raise funds for childhood cancer research on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the Golden Leaf Convention Center.

In addition to raising awareness, the foundation’s goal was to raise $75,000. Almost 100 participants registered to shave their heads to support the mission.

This was the third year in a row that the Quad City St. Baldrick’s held the event to “Conquer Kids’ Cancer,” an event that has raised in total over $120,000 for the foundation.

The event featured raffles, auctions, food and drink, live entertainment, and activities for kids.

According to a spokesperson from the foundation, every three minutes worldwide a child is diagnosed with cancer. St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven and donor-centered charity dedicated to raising money for childhood cancer research.
