Finding water in your basement is probably not much of a challenge, it’s finding the tools to get rid of it that may be difficult.  Hardware stores all over town are experiencing a shortage of sump pumps and shop vacuums.

Owner of Trevor True Value in Moline tells us more have been ordered and are on their way.

In the mean time, the store has even rented out majority of their equipment as well.

“We have some people who rented pumps [Thursday] and they are keeping the pumps because it’s still coming in,” Trevor says.

East Moline resident, James Sappington Jr. says he has looked everywhere for some equipment to rid his basement of water.

“I have been to like 10 different places, looking for something and everyone is out of everything,” James says.

James was able to rent a utility pump that he attached to a garden hose to get the bulk of the water out but he is expecting many more work to come.

“It will probably take at least a couple hours to get the water out and then do it all over again because it’s supposed to rain again,” Sappington says.
