Wednesday’s Wild Weather Recap

Hail in Fulton, IL @ 8:50 A.M. 4-17-13

Wednesday’s storms brought all kinds of wild weather to the Quad Cities and surrounding areas. Spotters have reported flooding, hail and other conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, the main level of an apartment was full of water in Johnson, Iowa reported by a sheriff’s office. In Cedar, Iowa a flash flood was reported. Creeks were seen out of their banks, a basement was flooded, and water was blowing out of road water drains.

Significant flash flooding throughout the area was also reported.

WQAD Facebook Fans said they saw hail in their towns from Salem to Clinton, Iowa to Malden, Illinois and everywhere in between.

Most of these cities saw rain and thunderstorms for the remainder of the day.

MidAmerican Energy and Ameren Illinois reported in the early afternoon that thousands were without power in the Quad Cities. Most customers had their power restored by the early evening hours.
