The City of Davenport is monitoring weather forecasts and says they are preparing to place flood control measures for a river level of 22 feet.
Wednesday morning, Davenport Public Works crews began working at Credit Island. Hesco barriers are being installed around Credit Island Lodge. Crews closed the causeway at Credit Island on Wednesday.
At Modern Woodmen Park, crews began installing the park’s flood protection. In the Garden Addition, pumps are already in place, tested and ready for use. The boat ramps at Marquette Street landing and Credit Island have been removed.
Crews are also monitoring Duck Creek. Residents living along the creek are encouraged to take precautionary measures.
Davenport Public Works Director, Michael Clarke is also advising people to stay away from and out of the flood waters. People interested in seeing the flood waters are encouraged to visit the sky bridge in downtown Davenport.
