Police said fire broke out in a home when three children, ages 10 and under, were left home alone for several hours by a Burlington woman who now faces a child endangerment charge.

The fire was reported just before 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013 at a home in the 200 block of Shields Street in Burlington, Iowa.

Police said firefighters arrived to find three children – ages three, four and 10 years old – without any adult supervision.

Firefighters determined fire had started in a bedroom and the burning items were thrown out of a window.  The exact cause of the fire was not yet released.  No one was hurt.

Investigators determined the children had been left home alone for about three hours.  The children’s mother, 31-year-old Felicia Bryant, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor child endangerment.

Bryant later posted bond and was released from the Des Moines County Jail.
