Question

For a community with questions, an outreach program is starting up a service to make navigating the public benefits system easier.

According to Prairie State Legal Services, starting Monday, April 15, a Help Desk will be available to the public at the Rock Island Main Library. The service is being provided by the Rock Island office of Prairie State Legal Services, Inc.

Trained volunteers will be available at two locations to answer questions about assistance programs for food, money, medical and disabilities.

The Help Desk will be open from 2 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays on the library’s second floor and on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center.

The resource desk was developed as part of a public benefits awareness and outreach program through Prairie State’s AmeriCorps VISTA.

The Rock Island Library is located at 401 19th Street. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center is at 530 7th Ave.
