Bandits Home Opener Still On

The Quad City River Bandits play their home opening game Thursday night.

The Bandits host the Peoria Chiefs at Modern Woodmen Park. River Bandit's GM Harold Craw tells us that the grounds crew will take the tarp off the field around 8 Thursday morning to see how the dirt looks.

As of 7 Thursday morning, the game is still on for 7 p.m. Midwestern League crews usually like deciding on the game before the opposing team has to drive in. Expect to know whether crews call the game by late Thursday afternoon.

New River Bandits General Manager Harold Craw makes his home opening debut Thursday. Craw is believed to be the first African American General Manager in Midwestern League history.

The first 1,500 fans get a pennant sponsored by Mediacom Thursday. Specialty drinks also cost just $2 for the game.
