Members of both the Davenport City Council and the Riverboat Development Authority say there's a chance the two groups could meet for up for a public meeting on the casino proposals that the city of Davenport has submitted so far.
As previously reported, RDA president Mary Ellen Chamberlin told us her group has at least four proposals that companies and Davenport have submitted. RDA Attorney Bob Gallagher Sr. is currently reviewing all the proposals at this time.
Davenport City Council member Bill Edmond says he may try submitting a casino agenda item through the Davenport City Council. The item would ask for the Davenport City Council to meet publicly with the RDA.
Edmond is in full support of Ingenus Management's plans to build a city-owned casino at the I-280 and I-80 interchange. The casino would go up in Edmond's ward. Ingenus and developer Rodney Blackwell have cut down their costs by $70 million since the RDA's last meeting, according to Edmond.
"We haven't received any indication from them," Chamberlin said Tuesday about a meeting.
Chamberlin also added that the city would have to send the RDA a request before the two sides would meet publicly. The city council would not be able to review an item like this until its Committee of the Whole meeting April 17.
The city would not likely vote on the measure until their following council meeting April 24. The city council will meet Wednesday night without looking at this agenda item. That meeting starts at 5:30 p.m.
