A power outage affecting hundreds of MidAmerican Energy customers in Iowa and Illinois has also forced classes to be delayed at Scott Community College.

School officials announced classes at the college’s Belmont Campus would be delayed until at least noon Wednesday, April 10, 2013.

As of about 9 a.m. that day, nearly 100 MidAmerican Energy customers were without electricity in Scott County, Iowa.  That number was reduced to just over 30 customers by about 9:45 a.m.

Just over 900 customers were without power on the Illinois side of the Quad Cities, and about 600 of those outages were reported in Rock Island.  Fewer than 100 Rock Island outages remained just after 10 a.m.  Just over 130 were reported in Rapids City, and most of those had service restored before 9:30 a.m.  Another 150 outages were reported in Rock Island County, and most of those were restored before 10 a.m.
