Quad City teacher placed on leave of absence in ISAT cheating allegations

A Moline teacher says she will fight to keep her job after being accused of helping kids in her classroom cheat on ISAT tests.

A Moline teacher says she will fight to keep her job after being accused of helping kids in her classroom cheat on ISAT tests.

Rolanda Cabel is a 14-year veteran of the Moline School District. On March 6, she was escorted out of Butterworth Elementary School by an administrator with the district, and place on paid leave.

"I was escorted out. I'm not allowed to be on school premises. I do have an attorney and I am fighting this," Cabel said.

School Superintendent Dr. David Moyer says he can't and won't comment on what he calls a "personnel situation."

A source close to the school district confirms that Cabel was placed on leave for allegedly providing answers to students in her fourth grade class during the standardized testing last month, an accusation she denies.

"No question about it. I have two people out to get me. It was revenge," Cabel said. She says she and her attorney Matt Pappas will fight the allegation and may sue the district.

She says she was told that another educator was outside her classroom, monitoring the testing through a window.

"I was told I was being timed through my window," she said.

It's unclear what students in the classroom say happened during testing.
