Info and Links – What you need to know for the April 9 election

Tuesday, April 9 is election day in Illinois. Here are the issues, where and when you can vote and how to confirm you’re registered.

Tuesday, April 9 is election day in Illinois.

Voters in several counties will elect community and regional school trustees.  Voters in area counties will also elect people to fill a variety of municipal and township administrative, council and board positions.

Voters in the 2nd congressional district will also vote to fill the vacant seat left by the resignation of Representative Jesse Jackson Jr.

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. at all locations.  Find out where you go to vote – click here.

Some counties will post unofficial local election results online.  Results are expected to be certified by the state board of elections April 20, when the official results will be posted online at http://www.elections.il.gov/.

Click the county name on the list below to view a sample ballot of issues being decided in that county.   Unofficial results will begin being posted online at the results links below after polls close at 7 p.m.

Bureau County voters will also decide a county-wide energy proposition.  To view Bureau County election results – click here.

Fulton County voters will also decide a county-wide schools tax.  To view a list of issues and election results online – click here.

Henry County (Illinois) voters will decide a proposed 1% sales tax increase to help fund school facilities.election results will be posted online – click here.

JoDaviess County voters will also decide an electrical aggregation issue.

Knox County voters can look for a link to online election results on the county clerk’s page – click here.   Galesburg will also post election results online – click here.

LaSalle County voters will decide electrical aggregation and retailer occupation tax issues.  For a list of issues to be decided and election results posted online – click here.

Lee County voters will decide a proposed county sales tax and electrical service aggregation for unincorporated portions of the county.  For a complete list of issues and election results online – click here.

McDonough County voters can see ballot issues and election results for all precincts online – click here.

Mercer County voters will decide a 1% retailers’ occupation tax and a service occupation tax to help fund school facilities.  Voters will also decide whether to allow $2.8 million in bonds to be issued for building repairs and improvements to the Mercer Carnegie Library District.

Ogle County voters will also decide a concealed carry issue, a retailers’ occupation tax and electrical aggregation.  A complete list of ballot issues they will decide and election results online – click here.

Rock Island County voters will also decide a tax levy increase for Big Island, Proposition 2 to expand powers of the county public building commission, and Propsition 1 which decides whether to maintain single-member districts in the county.  Rock Island County election results will be posted online – click here.

Warren County voters can view a list of issues and election results will be posted online – click here.

Whiteside County voters will decide whether to impose a 1% retailers occupation tax to help fund schools, whether to combine the East Coloma Elementary and Nelson Elementary school districts, and an electrical aggregation issue.  Election results will be posted online after polls close – click here.
