Police are investigating a shooting near a home in Sterling, Illinois.

According to the Sterling Police Department, gunshots were heard in the area of Avenue I and West 7th Street around 5:15 p.m on Sunday, April 7.

Police say the suspects are two Hispanic men seen driving a gray or light blue Lincoln Town Car with a darker Landau top and an “S” symbol on the real pillar. The car stopped in the 700-block of Avenue I and witnesses say three to five rounds were fired to the east in the direction of a back yard.  Then the car drove-off northbound.

The driver was described as a heavyset man with a bald or shaved head. The shooter was described as 5’4” and about 140-150 pounds.

When the shots were fired several people were in the back yard of the targeted home, officials say.

There were no injuries.

Police suspect that the shooting is gang related, but this has not been confirmed.
