Drivers can expect lane restrictions on Iowa Highway 16 in Wapello County.

According to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Mount Pleasant construction office, a hot-mix asphalt crack filling project is set to begin Monday, April 18 and last until Friday, April 12, weather permitting.

The project will affect traffic between the intersection with U.S. 34 and southwest to the Selma area.

Traffic will be down to a single lane pattern that alternates directions on weekdays from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Drivers will be directed through the work zone by flaggers and a pilot car. There will be an 11-foot lane restriction in the project area.

The Iowa DOT reminds drivers to use caution and pay attention to speed signs within the work area.

Traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones.
