Iowa dog rescued from shelter making strides

An Iowa shelter dog, adopted by a family in Ames has embarked on quite an adventure.

Instead of herding sheep, Cheryl Morris and her adopted Border Collie, “Karma,” train for competitions.

“They have to be able to get rid of that energy somehow and they will absolutely herd anything that moves, including small children,” Morris said.

Morris is an animal scientist at Iowa State University, and her husband works at the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha. In the past the couple had done agility training with their dogs, but “Karma” has special talent, unlike any other.

A couple of weeks ago Morris and “Karma” made the final round of the AKC National Championship.

The pair are now preparing for the Cyno Sport World Games taking place in Tennessee this October.
