Parents of the West Carroll School District will hold a town hall meeting Thursday night.

Parents are upset that the state is late in paying its school districts. Iowa schools are dealing with the same thing. Davenport Community Schools has had to project its budget without knowing whether it will get any increases in its allowable growth.

The West Carroll School District faced about $800,000 in deficits going into this school year. They also had to cut 12 staff positions from its budget for next school year.

Parents are concerned about what the future for public education is in the state of Illinois. They'll also be able to ask questions about why the state is late in its payments.  Parent Julie Bickelhaupt is setting up the meeting.

State Representative Jim Sacia and State Senator Tim Bivens will answer questions. Thursday night's meeting starts at 5:30 at West Carroll Middle School in Mount Carroll.
