A fire damaged a Sterling home Thursday morning in the 2000 block of 7th Street.

It happened near Platt Park on Sterling's east side at about 7 a.m. Crews tell us the fire fully engulfed the home by the time they got there.

A Karr family member says she ran down the street this morning after seeing crews outside the home. Her brother and sister were sleeping inside at the time.

The family member also told us that a passerby woke up both the brother and sister after seeing flames coming out of the home. They were able to get out okay.

Crews say the fire damaged about a quarter of the home, and they say it started in the back. The fire department says that the brother and two sisters will both be living together for the next couple of days.

The fire department has not released a cause at this time. The State Fire Marshall is investigating the scene.
