Local store holds raffle to benefit Muscular Dystrophy Association

A Quad City woman won a $1,000 in gas after participating in a raffle that benefits the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

A Quad City woman was presented a $1,000 check for gas on Thursday, March 28 after participating in a raffle that benefits the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Heather McMaster from Colona won the gas money from MOLO Oil and Big Ten Marts which held the raffle through the chain’s Shamrock program.

According to the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Executive Director, Liz Simpson, through the program, over $30,000 is raised for the association.

“They do a gas raffle, they do a silent auction and they sell the shamrocks for us,” said Simpson. “The stores really get into it, have a blast, hang them all over the store, and they raise a lot of money and it’s for a good cause.”

Simpson said they association is hoping to raise $200,000 to donate to families affected by muscular disease.
