Police have identified a man whose body was found near 31st Avenue Park in Rock Island.

Lee A. Jump, 43, of East Moline, Illinois, was found on the ground near containers on city-owned land in the 100 block of 31st Avenue on Wednesday, March 27, 2013.

An autopsy performed in Rockford indicated Jump died of a traumatic head injury.

Police said they were investigating Jump's death as a homicide.

Police say they're conducting a homicide investigation after workers found the body of a man on the ground in a remote area near 31st Avenue Park in Rock Island.

The discovery was reported at about 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013.

Police were sent to the 300 block of 31st Avenue after someone reported seeing a person, covered in blood, on the ground near some containers there.  The site is the former location of a ball field.

Police have they found a body near dumpsters on city property in the 100 block of 31st Street.

They said the body is that of a 43-year-old Caucasian man and that the body was fully-clothed.  The man's identity was withheld pending proper notification to his family.

Police said they are investigating the man's death as a homicide.  They had not yet released the cause of the man's death.
