Wisconsin Governor Walker Wins Recall Election

(CNN) — Republican Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin is working on a book project, according to a GOP source.

Walker is collaborating with former George W. Bush speechwriter Marc Thiessen.

Widely considered a potential 2016 contender for the Republican nomination, Walker fired up the audience at a major conservative gathering earlier this month. He received one of the most enthusiastic responses from the audience at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference, a popular cattle call for Republicans considering bids for the White House.

Walker rose to national fame after surviving a recall election in 2012 following his decision to curb collective bargaining rights for public employees. The move sparked headline-grabbing protests, as demonstrators and public workers took over the state capitol to loudly protest the decision.

The recall election, which took place in May of last year, drew millions in campaign cash from major political groups and thrust Walker onto the national political stage.

He was considered a potential running mate for Mitt Romney in last year’s presidential election, and he hasn’t ruled out a bid of his own for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination.

Robert Costa first reported the book Monday afternoon on National Review Online.
