Beyond the Green Screen: I’m Getting Spring Fever

Cassie Heiter Weather Blog

Friday night was a great night for the Quad City Mallards. The seats were filled with fans and the opposing team was sent home with a loss. It was the first time I was able to stay for a whole game and it had me wondering why I hadn’t done this more often. Sometimes I find it tough to find something fun to do during the winter. This was perfect!

I’m generally not a big sports fan but being born and raised in Kentucky I do pay a little extra attention to basketball. I have always been a University of Louisville fan, I cheer for my alma mater, Western Kentucky University, and I will support the University of KY if the other two are not playing. That’s it. I’d say you couldn’t pay me to sit through a football game but that would be a lie. If you’d pay me in concession style food I would gladly attend a party. There’s something about being with a group of friends and eating hot dogs and nachos that reel me in. I think it’s mostly my craving for salty junk foods.

While I have to admit that food is the first thing that comes to mind when I go to a sporting event, it’s the warmer temperatures and sunshine that keep me in the ballpark. Quad City River Bandits games are on the top of my list of favorite things to do in the summer. I’ve definitely got Spring Fever!
