An East Moline man faces animal cruelty charges for allegedly letting two dogs starve to death in his home.

Police said Anthony Blair, 27, was charged with two felony counts of aggravated cruelty to animals.

Blair reportedly lived with his wife in the home on 15th Avenue until the couple divorced in June 2012.  Blair’s ex-wife reported discovering the dogs dead inside the home in February 2013.  Court records show foreclosure proceedings began on the home that same month.

Police said it appeared the dogs, a five-year-old terrier mix and a six-year-old terrier, had free run of the house and were left alone there for several months.

Blair was arrested Friday morning, March 22, 2013.  He was held the Rock Island County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bond.  His first court appearance was set for Saturday, March 23.
