More Jobs Being Posted In The Quad Cities

Have you noticed more construction crews in the Quad Cities? It may be a clue that something new is “Coming Soon” to the Quad Cities.

In Moline, crews are tearing down the old Menards to make way for several new stores including Ross Dress for Less, Hobby Lobby, and PetSmart. City officials say there is also room for one more tenant in that space.

On the other side of the river, demolition near Cumberland Square Mall will clear the way for a new CVS Pharmacy.

The “Coming Soon” signs in front of each work site are a sign in itself that jobs are on the move into the area.

“People are hiring,” says Lindsey Milem, Technology and Sales Coordinator with qcemployme.com. “There are jobs out there. You just need to know where to look for them and be willing to put in the effort.”

Milem says over the last six months, she’s seen an uptick in job postings on the site.

“We have really good quality employers here and it’s all completely local jobs within a 50-mile radius of the Quad Cities,” says Milem.

In Bettendorf, a new yogurt lounge called Yourtopia held its grand opening on Thursday, March 21st, 2013. A place to relax and enjoy a healthy treat with the toppings of “your” choice, the co-owner says he’s hired six employees and plans to hire more over the summer.

“I do see more jobs out there,” says Co-Owner, Kody Bui.

But Bui says his sweet success is a tribute to the community they serve.

“A lot of the people from the neighborhood here have come by and support us and that’s what we wanted and we want to give back to the community also,” says Bui.

Yourtopia is already cashing in on that promise. Over the next week, they’re donating 100% of their revenue to the organization, Kids Against Hunger.

Yourtopia is located at 2571 53rd Avenue in Bettendorf.
