The University of Iowa and the city of Davenport will team up for a Living with Floods Forum Thursday night.

Both groups will reflect on recent floods that damaged some parts of Iowa. The 2008 flood waters came into the parking lot of Modern Woodmen Park and flooded out the area. The Quad City River Bandits were still able to play games though. That's because the team built a flood wall outside the stadium, so the waters could not get in.

The city is looking for more ideas like that to reduce damage in the upcoming years. The groups will also discuss how Davenport has better prepared itself for floods since 2008.

It will also talk about Iowa's changing weather patterns and how people can minimize the impacts of future flooding by managing water runoff. The city will also talks about its riverfront vision for the future.

Thursday's forum starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Modern Woodmen Park Skydeck. Muscatine will also hold a Living with Floods forum May 29th at 6 p.m.
