Free safety classes offered to boaters

The Army Corps of Engineers held a free boating safety class offering information and the chance to be certified.

The Army Corps of Engineers held a free boating safety class at Lock and Dam 14.

The eight-hour class on Saturday offered information and the opportunity to receive a DNR Boat Safety Certification after passing a written test.

Anybody 12-years of age and over could be certified. Certifications are recognized in both Iowa and Illinois.

The next class will be held Saturday, March 30 in Pleasant Valley, Iowa at the Mississippi River Project Office at Locks and Dam 14 from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
