Rock Island County Fair dates changed

The Rock Island County Fair board has moved the dates of the fair in an effort to bring families some relief from the heat.

The Rock Island County Fair board has moved the dates of the fair to an earlier summer month.

QC Online reports that the reason for the date-change is to attempt to bring families some relief from the heat. Board president Bill McKinley said the last two years have been extremely hot, contributing to low attendance.

The new dates of the fair are June 25 - 29.

The move may not be permanent, the fair board will re-evaluate dates again next year.

All the attractions will still be available. There will be a tractor pull, bull-riding and mutton busting, a demolition derby, fireworks and the fair queen pageant.
