Photos: Fire destroys Rock Falls house

A pet was still missing after fire destroyed a home in Rock Falls, Illinois.

The fire was reported at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013 at a home in the 200 block of Avenue D.  Firefighters said the home was engulfed in flames when they arrived.

Firefighters from rock Falls, Dixon and Sterling fire departments fought the fire.

The roof of the home collapsed during the firefight.  Witnesses said the exterior of neighboring homes were also damage by heat from the blaze.

No injuries were reported.  The family dog was missing after the fire.

A spokesman for the Rock Falls Fire Department said the family did not have insurance, and that they were getting help from friends after the fire.
