It’s hard to believe St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner. The Quad Cities definitely knows how to put on a party this time of year and will draw crowds from across the country to help celebrate. I have friends coming in from Milwaukee and Florida this weekend just for St. Patrick’s Day! How did this even happen? Is there a large Irish community here? Not that I’m complaining. I suppose it is a great reason to get out of the house after a long winter of being indoors. In fact our normal high temperature for St. Patrick’s Day is 49°! The average low is 30°.
As of this Tuesday afternoon unfortunately it looks like we may be experiencing a cooler than normal holiday. We have a chance for a rain and snow mix very early that morning but skies should become at least partly sunny by parade time. Cross your fingers that the timing holds!
In years recent, temperatures have been fantastic! Last year we set a record high for the day of 82°! In 2011 we had a high of 61°. You actually have to go back to 2008 to find temperatures that were in the 40’s on that day.
