A new beer is available in the Quad Cities and this one is brewing for a good cause.
The Center for Active Seniors (CASI) held a tapping for the new beer, Owney Irish Red Ale, at the Great River Brewery in Davenport. CASI is a non-profit organization that provides services and programs for elderly people in the community. All proceeds from the beer sales go to funding for the non-profit organization.
“I think it is a good cause,” said event attendant, Jared Verbeke. “I like to support local businesses and anything that stays within the community.”
Owney, an old Irish name for 'elderly' is being sold at stores throughout the Quad City area.
