Iowa sex offender caught in Illinois gets sentenced

An Iowa sex offender, who spent time on the run before being caught hiding under a stairwell, was sentenced to spend a minimum of 35 years in prison.

An Iowa sex offender, who spent time on the run before being caught hiding under a stairwell, was sentenced to spend a minimum of 35 years in prison.

James Beaudrie, of Des Moines, was charged in early 2012 with eight counts of sexual abuse, including victimizing a child under the age of 16.

Federal authorities searched seven states looking for Beaudrie before they said they found him hiding under a stairwell at a Chicago apartment complex where his mother lived.

Beaudrie’s wife, Kijua, pleaded guilty to three counts of neglect for failing to stop her husband from abusing their children.  Kijua was sentenced to three consecutive ten-year prison terms.

James Beaudrie was sentenced to a total of 50 years in prison.  As part of h is plea agreement, Beaudrie will be required to serve 75% of his sentence.  In addition to prison, the court ordered Beaudrie to  complete sex offender treatment and to register as a sexually violent predator for life.
