Effective on Friday, March 8, the Illinois National Guard reported that Federal Tuition Assistance has been suspended.
According to Go Army Ed, the suspension was approved by the Secretary of the Army and affects the Active Duty, Reserves, and the National Guard and no new requests are being taken.

Applications are being accepted for the Illinois National Guard Grant for any State supported school. This is for soldiers wishing to pursue their civilian education goals.

No date has been set to lift the suspension. Federal Tuition Assistance has always been an un-funded program and National Guard leaders are working to bring it back.

Soldiers currently enrolled and participating in courses approved for tuition assistance are not affected and will be allowed to complete current courses.

For additional information soldiers are encouraged to contact their local education centers.
