Mcintyre, GA (WGCL) — Its official, Honey Boo Boo is now a Girl Scout.
The announcement was made on the family’s Facebook page on Tuesday afternoon.
The fan page is run by her mother June Shannon and a family friend.
A photo was posted with the caption: “She’s so excited to be in the troop.”
Many Facebook users posted congratulatory messages for little Alana Thompson.
Alana drew attention last week when she was helping a friend sell Girl Scout Cookies on Facebook.
The family was asked to take the cookie ads off Facebook.
Alana is not a Girl Scout, so she is personally ineligible to sell Girl Scout Cookies, according to Debbie Caballero, marketing and communications officer for Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia.
Some people were upset the family was selling Girl Scout Cookies over Facebook.
“So how are you all able to do this? Its breaking terms and conditions,” posted one Facebook user.
“When we first started selling cookies Alana hadn’t joined yet due to our busy schedule and we didn’t know if it was something she would truly be interested,” wrote Shannon.
Alana hung out with a Girl Scout troop on Sunday.
She loved it and wanted to be a part of it, so they signed her up.
