Ameren Illinois customers with past-due accounts have until the end of March work out a repayment plan that starts with ten percent of their overdue balance.
The company’s usual policy requires a down payment of 25% of the past due amount before being allowed to make monthly payments on the rest.
“From now until March 31, eligible customers can pay 10 percent of their outstanding balance and then the remaining amount in monthly installments,” said Ameren Illinois Customer Service assistant manager Marianne Luna.
Beginning April 1, monthly payment plans on past-due balances will require a 25% down payment. In addition, customers who don’t establish a payment plan agreement by April 1 could face service disconnection.
