A local man convicted of a Scott County murder was denied commutation of his sentence by Iowa Governor Terry Branstad.
Harry Sisco is serving a life sentence in an Anamosa, Iowa prison for the 1991 murder of Audrey “Elaine” St. Clair. Audrey was shot to death as she slept, and then her body was dumped in garbage bags at Wildcat Den Park in Muscatine County.
Sisco was convicted of first-degree murder, and he was sentenced to life in prison.
After serving more than two decades in prison Sisco, now 78, applied to the state’s parole board to reduce his sentence because of his age.
St. Clair's sisters begged the board to keep Sisco in prison.
The Iowa Board of Parole unanimously recommended rejecting his request in a decision handed down January 4, 2013.
The board sent its recommendation to Gov. Branstad for a final decision on the matter.
Branstad’s office announced Friday, March 1, 2013 his decision to deny Sisco’s application for commutation.
