There's no school in Dixon, Illinois Thursday, but it has nothing to do with the weather.

The Dixon Education Association and Dixon School Board have been trying to hammer out a contract agreement since last fall.

Dixon School's Superintendent, Michael Juenger says teachers are asking for a higher raise than the board is prepared to give.

School isn't in session Thursday for all five Dixon Schools and with kids in elementary school, it's not the best news for dad, Harold Fredericks.
"The kids need their education," said Fredericks. "I got a little 7 year old daughter who needs hers and a nephew who needs his."

The Superintendent says school likely won't be in session Friday, even if an agreement is made at tonight's scheduled school board meeting because the board won't have enough time to ratify the treaty.
