The husband of a woman found dead in her home is now facing a first-degree murder charge.
Chico Newman, 38, was arrested by U.S. Marshals and Moline Police at about 9 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2013 at the Motel 6 near the Quad City International Airport in Moline.
Police said they think Chico Newman killed his wife, 32-year-old Crystal Newman. There was a previous domestic dispute reported between the couple, and police found Crystal’s body in her home at about 2 a.m. August 9, 2013. She died of a single gunshot wound to the head.
Chico Newman was held in the Rock Island County Jail in lieu of a $1 million cash-only bond. He was awaiting extradition to face a first-degree murder charge in Iowa.
