A canine member of the Geneseo, Illinois Police Department passed away suddenly Friday, February 22, 2013.
Bobby was on patrol with his handler when he became ill and was rushed to his veterinarian.
Police said Bobby suffered from a twisted intestine which required emergency surgery. The procedure, however, was not enough to save Bobby and he passed away.
“Bobby was a dedicated partner and servant to the community and will be greatly missed,” said a statement issued by the department.
Bobby had been with the Geneseo Police Department since October 15, 2007.
