Sunday, February 24, 2013, was the start of Quad Cities Restaurant Week. It’s a way to promote and bring awareness to local businesses. Customers will save extra cash this week when going out to eat at local restaurants.

"It's something that a lot of other communities around the country have seen success with and we have a lot of great restaurants in the quad cities and we thought why not do one here,” says Jessica Waytenick, Public Relations and Marketing Director Manger for the Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse is just one out of the 26 restaurants that’s participating. During the week restaurants will offer lunch or dinner specials.

"I've seen new faces in here today that I haven't seen in the time I've been here. So I definitely think it's an advantage to get new customers in the door,” says Johnny’s Assistant Director, Shaun Starron.

Captain’s Table restaurant in Moline thinks it will help their business.

"Over all I’ve gotten more phone calls today then I had last Sunday,” says General Manager, Marc Studer.

The promotion will especially help them compete against big restaurant chains.

"It's a matter of trying to be unique enough to be able to gain the savvy diner,” says Marc.

It’s also a way for customers to keep their money right here in the community.

"Local restaurants are great for our community. They really support the area, support what's going on,” says Jessica.

Restaurant Week will go on until Saturday, March 2nd, 2013
